Kevin had his first exhibition at the age of sixteen at a local Arts Centre in the small market town of Tamworth in Staffordshire. It wasn’t until 2022, some 45 years later that he had another work exhibited. This time it was a piece called “I used to love you” shown in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (at 6m 09secs) and featured on the BBC2 TV programme “Summer Exhibitionist” hosted by Joe Lycett.
Kevin Knowles is a contemporary British artist known for his colourful, often surreal works that explore identity, psychosis, and personality. Drawing inspiration from his childhood and inner thoughts, his paintings and installations exude a quiet intensity and meditative rhythm.
Emerging from the anarchist movement of the late 1970s, he symbolises a contemplative, compelling and defiantly original strand of British counterculture.
